Belly Flop

If you exercise then you will understand this post. Some days you have it and some days you don't. Ben and I went to the pool yesterday during lunch for a workout. I was actually looking forward to going since I didn't go last week since I was in FL. Anyways, we get there and it just starts off bad. All the lines were full and so we had to split up and join in with someone. I stood over one lane hoping that the guy would look up and say "come on in"...course that didn't happen. So Ben jumped in that line, so I was with a guy doing the breast stroke which meant it was only going to be a matter of time until he kicked me on accident.

So my plan was to do a latter/pyramid in the pool. This is basically doing sets of laps starting at 5 laps, 4 laps, 3 laps, 2 laps, 1 lap and then going back up. The catch is the laps get faster and faster. So by the time you get the going back up part you should hit the same times. I can't remember what the times were, but boy I hit maybe two or three of them. I was one of those workouts where you start and it's already hard to breathe and you are having trouble breathing. Before when I have done this workout I hit every single time if not a faster time. Yesterday was not the case. I starting thinking of every excuse to quit, but I kept going. I won't say my form was pretty and I was breathing a lot harder than normal, but I completed my 30 laps (which is close to a mile swim).

During workouts like this you start thinking, what did I do different and why didn't I have it today. I had done a hard hill workout the day before so I totally blamed it on that. But really, that shouldn't matter...it was just one of those days. I looked over at Ben and one point and all he said was..."I think the water is thicker or something...this sucks!!!
